Authors photoHi, my name is Rosemarie, and I am the voice behind the scenes of underthepinkmoonbooks.com. Welcome to my new blog covering books and all things bookish. Thank you for visiting my site. I am grateful to have you here.

While my first home stood within walking distance to the Jersey Shore, years ago my family decided to relocate to the Pacific Northwest.

Growing up in New Jersey, I fell in love with books. Graciously, my mother patiently nurtured my quest for knowledge. Consequently, I learned how to read and write before I attended school. Books became an integral part of my life.

Recently, memories resurfaced of yearly Scholastic book fairs held in the cafeteria of my local school. Back then, at the close of the school day, I would request permission to visit the fair and choose a new chapter book. The cafeteria held volumes of different colors, styles, shapes, and sizes lovingly placed in rows on the long rectangular tables within. From afar they resembled a collage too aesthetically pleasing to disrupt. I can recall spending time painstakingly agonizing over which book to select. Nearing the final moments of the big event, I would typically find a thick paperback that somehow resonated within my heart.

As a mother, I brought books into my son’s life-permitting me to revisit those magical childhood moments all over again. Together, my son Paul and I would happily view parts of the world through the collective lens of our ever-growing library of books. My son is grown now and has a new chapter in his own life.

Throughout my life, I have enjoyed working in a variety of different roles. Most recently, I set up shop within an antique boutique, where I displayed and sold my aged French finds.

Then 2020 arrived, and while I still dabbled in antiques, the year brought uncertainty to my life. Eventually, after several long, static, rain-filled months, I sought out the comfort of a new book.

Once I officially began to search for a gifted writer, I didn’t know where I would uncover my next read. Due to the pandemic, nonessential services were closed. Correspondingly, my local literary venues were all but shuttered as well.

While scrolling through an online magazine, I unexpectedly came across a curated must-read list of literature for 2020. It seemed as if I embodied that little girl standing in the cafeteria staring glossy-eyed at a palate of books all over again.

Subsequently, I wrote down the titles that I wished to purchase. After thoughtfully narrowing down my literary list, I chose a memoir that I became fully immersed in up until the final passage. Reading helped inspire me to look at words and the world they inhabit with an abundance of light. Books brought a steady rhythm into my life enabling me to find a new balance. Upon finding that natural balance, I was able to reclaim my voice. Subconsciously, my combined literary experiences blossomed into a desire to create a blog about books and the impact they can have on our lives.

Under The Pink Moon books is a blog for spreading the world of literature from my place to yours. I wish to provide a safe, friendly inclusive space to share my interest in the expression of the written word. My blog will also boost both readers and aspiring writers to participate in ongoing events within the literary community.  It will be enlightening to connect with a group of like-minded souls. I would love to create a virtual reading room where users feel encouraged to log in and stay for a while. Possibly, being in the presence of books could potentially unleash a collective response from subscribers by tapping into hidden talents and unbridled artistry.
